Actually, the concept of 'colors' like dusk and dawn really appeal to me. Or colors that are actually part of some greater grouping. I like themes, themes are nifty.
Relatively the same size, please. Differentiating based on personality traits also sounds good, although there can always be the exception to the rule. Or perhaps different shades of the same color - perhaps males are darker in some color, and females brighter? It'd actually probably be the opposite if they're a clutching color. Don't want to draw the eye to your egg babies if you're nesting.
To put it bluntly, no. I don't really think all females should clutch, that'd be horrendously crazy. But on the other hand, it'd make things much fairer and perhaps loosen up some of that tension over who gets the shiny egg clutcher or not. I don't know, I'm rather torn.
Yes please, destroy that system. I've really grown to dislike that archaic way of working things. Perhaps pour more focus into what sort of individual would best flow with this chick and its objectives. Maybe personalize the babies some more - a couple of paragraphs versus a list of adjectives. Some might argue that it's taking away some of the new owner's ability to make the baby their own, so I won't push so much for that.
As for simourv bonding to other sentient species, I'm not very interested in that aspect of the role-play. Honestly, I probably won't touch it with a ten foot pole - SO, do with it what you will. It may or may not be a factor that draws people in.
I don't really mind either way in the way of sexing things to be color-specific. I don't see a problem with it, and perhaps there could be the rare case of the opposite gender showing up, who knows. I don't think it should be overly common though.
